Rolex triangular grooves are a characteristic of the brand’s watches. Initially, the triangular grooves on the outer ring of the Oyster watch had a practical purpose, which helped to tighten the outer ring to the case and ensure the waterproof performance of the watch.

The grooves visible on the caseback are also designed for the same purpose and are screwed onto the case with a specific Rolex tool. Later, the triangular grooves evolved into an aesthetic design element and a classic Rolex feature. Today, the triangular grooves have become a feature of the brand's watches.
