THE STORY

Performance and style for all your water sports. In the 1960s, the new sport of scuba diving became all the rage. For divers, every second counts, so Breitling set out to provide them with the clearest and most readable diving watch, and deleted all functions that did not support underwater life-saving needs. The streamlined watch is called “Slow Motion”. The watch retains clean lines, thick luminous hour markers, square hands and a contrasting bezel, all designed to maximize legibility. The practicality is truly outstanding. But what really makes people fall in love with it is its appearance. The new Superocean watch retains the famous design elements of the Slow Motion watch while adding modern features, such as a ceramic inlaid bezel and a brightly colored dial. The wide hands and hour markers are coated with Super-LumiNova® for easy reading underwater. The watch is water-resistant to 300 meters (1,000 feet) and is shock-proof, sand-proof and sea-water proof. The bronze version uses a special alloy that is extremely resistant to corrosion, but will still develop a subtle tarnish over time, making the watch even more unique. Two strap options (rubber and metal) with folding clasp allow for fine adjustments of up to 15 mm, making it easy to wear over a jellyfish suit or wetsuit. The scratch-resistant ceramic inlaid bezel will never wear or fade. For security reasons, most bezel sizes are unidirectional; the 46mm bezel is bidirectional and features a patented lock. Even better, it's not strictly a dive watch anymore - you can wear it surfing, swimming, heading to a beach bar and then to dinner. The Superocean watch is the perfect balance between nostalgic feelings for the historical heritage of the watch and a new look.
